Apple could release a low-cost version of the Mixed Reality headset: Report
Apple is reaching the final stages before unveiling its first Mixed Reality headset this year. According to reports, the device is expected to be a part of the WWDC 2023 lineup, and it won’t be cheap with a price tag of $2,000-$3,000.
But a new rumor suggests that Apple could have another Mixed Reality (XR) headset in the works, which will be affordable and part of its next-generation devices in 2025.
The information comes via Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst well versed in Apple news. Kuo claims that Apple will have one version first, followed by a high-end, lower-cost model, which will allow Apple to expand its audience with an XR device that is more accessible to even more people.
The strategy of having two-part devices in the XR ecosystem doesn’t come as a surprise, especially since the company has expanded its iPhone and iPad lineup over the years. Apple understands that with multiple products in the same category, it can earn more revenue with a more expensive model and keep business people happy with better volumes. The iPhone and iPhone Pro collection immediately come to mind.
Coming back to the XR segment, Apple is developing the realityOS platform for the device, which is given to developers to test, who can then create apps that make the hardware powerful.
Organizing your product and platform at a developer conference is the best way to engage with the best and also work on fixing the flaws found in tests. Apple is investing heavily in the XR ecosystem, and it is considered the next big innovation at the Steve Jobs Center.
Over the years, virtual and augmented reality have been corporate pitches, but with the added cost of hardware being hard to justify, the XR could be an ideal gateway for the technology to succeed, and Apple hopes that every effort. works in its favor.
